Short and long-run Impact of basin deposit failures in Nepal and discussion on possible measures for the future
Master's 2nd year
The central hilly area of Nepal has been suffered from the ground disasters, such as sinkholes and liquefaction. The goal of my research is to propose the mechanism and the possible countermeasures by investigating and analyzing two typical ground disasters that occurred in this area. In conclusion, it was found that low plastic silty layer deposited after late Pleistocene exists beneath the affected area and this layer was possibly weakened due to the change of effective stress or soil particle distribution. The local government should accumulate the ground information and control the ground water level, precisely.
